If you’re selling products on eBay as your home-based business, how do you test something to see if it will sell? One thing I recommend is starting with a Small Test Order. This applies very much to eBay selling.
Last week, we put up a few new dietary kitchen scales for a product line that we’re testing in our eBay store. There were only four units and to my amazement, they all flew off the shelf over the weekend and none of them were up for auction. Sold – to 4 different buyers!
I scratched my head over this for bit because I was not expecting them to go so fast. Our eBay store price was well above what these same items are auctioning for and I had not yet gotten around to driving traffic to that eBay store category.
Successful selling on eBay is a combination of lots of things, including a good listing title (with targeted keywords, item name, model number), good listing text (with lots of benefits for the buyer), great photos, and as Phil Dunn discusses, a nice story helps too.
Timing can also come into play. It occurred to me that these particular dietary kitchen scales probably make terrific Mother’s Day gifts. As Carol Carter points out in her blog post Mother´s Day Makes a Merry Month of May, this is a much bigger gift giving holiday that most people realize.
So I’ll certainly order more of them, but will they sell as well after Mother’s Day? Hmm – we’ll see.
