Have you ever worked with or for a company that went into heavy cost reduction mode? You know what I mean, cutting back on everything. All hands, all departments — joined together in a maddening pace to reduce expenses. There is no greater sign of a company on life support.
What always amazes me though is the sense of urgency to cut. The entire management team is focused, planning and working together to shrink operations. All energies of management are put into the plan to reduce.
Not near as much energy and sense of urgency is put into the plan to grow.
Why? Why don´t companies and management teams´ work as hard and diligent together to build and grow a company. Why is it the teamwork and urgency comes due to a call to action to reduce operations?
