There’s a debate brewing about whether or not Podcasting is just an Internet Marketing fad being pushed by the “marketing gurus” or if it’s really a viable medium that will change the way content is delivered. You can read a post by John Jantsch along with a few comments (one by yours truly).
For me, I think it is yet another way to deliver content and there seems to be a growing demand for content that can be easily packaged and downloaded by the reader/listener so they can digest it when and where they want.
Last week I hosted the inaugural Converstations with Experts call with Paul Chaney of Radiant Marketing. I had the call recorded and the file sent to me in mp3 format. I edited a bit, then uploaded the file to my Audioblog.com acccount and created an audio post to my Build a Better Blog blog so my readers could hear the Conversation if they happen to miss the live event. This past weekend I received the following comment:
Congratulations to you and Patsi on the inaugural session of "Conversations with Experts."?? I was pleasantly surprised to find that you recorded the session with Paul Chaney. Not able to dial into the evening teleconference, it was a real pleasure to listen to the entire session today on my morning run. What a value-add!! It was a great session — thought provoking, very informative and, best of all I could listen to at my convenience. It´s rare to find this combination of value and just good, practical information without the hype so common on the Internet today. I look forward to your future sessions. I am a fan . . .
This comment is the clincher for me that making audio available whether as a podcast or downloadable file is one of the ways to go to deliver your content, through your blog and on your website. Now, I need to create a podcast for the Conversations and get the podcasted listed in the growing list of podcast directories.
As an Internet marketing strategy this can be nothing but good. You’re getting your message out to new venues and attracting new prospects.
