I don´t make New Year resolutions since I have never been able to follow through on them, so instead I think of a few areas in my life that I´d like to improve and then I work on those areas. It seems that if I say I´m making a resolution and I put pressure on myself, I´m less likely to accomplish my goals, but if I think of some challenges I´d like to tackle, I put my head to it and get it done.
With a newborn and a toddler, one area in my life that needs improvement is organizational skills. I have always fallen short in this area, much to the dismay of both my mother and my husband, but I have gotten better over the years. I try to put the remote back where it belongs; I try to clean up clutter; I try to remember to place my keys in my purse and the phone on the stand, but I´m not always successful. So this year, that´s my challenge; I am going to become more organized.
I thought it would be fun to see if any readers would be interested in joining me on my quest for organization. If so, you can follow along, send in your comments as we work through organizing our homes, and send in suggestions about areas that you want to organize. Also, send in your successes. If you would like to email comments, ideas, and suggestions for me to share in the posts as we work together, please include your first name and state and I will reference you in my writing.
To start, today I am going out to purchase a variety of plastic storage containers that will hold our holiday ornaments (those that are not yet boxed), my daughter´s preschool paperwork, my daughter´s craft supplies, and my craft supplies. I do have some of these in tubs now, but I need additional tubs in order to separate out the various items. I also purchased a three-drawer stand at a yard sale the other day, which we are going to spray paint and use to hold my daughter´s paints, crayons, and papers. I am also going to purchase a label maker to use for labeling items in the home. If you would like to join along, spend the weekend purchasing some containers in which to hold the items you most need to organize and meet me back on Monday!
Have a great, restful, organizational weekend!
