For those of you who feel the need for speed when checking the news (or reading those weekly reports, for example) free speed-reading webapp Spreed:News may be the solution.
With Spreed you pick from a wide variety of news sources and their articles are read to you in small clusters of words.
The principles of speed reading involve cutting out all those unimportant words: and, but, the, etc. You can scale the tool between 240 and 1500 words per minute, and set up an account to save your favorite sources. Spreed offers a tally of the seconds you’ve saved from word-by-word reading. Furthermore, they offer an iPhone-optimized interface for speed reading while on commutes or trips.
Spreed is free to use, though you do have to sign up and register in order to save your feeds.
