Consumers will spend $14 billion plus on Easter this year, and undoubtedly a healthy chunk will be spent this week.
If your store isn’t stocked with traditional Easter items, how about creating a display that will suggest a green Easter?
If you sell nice baskets, turn one into an Easter basket, and put up a little sign suggesting that it become a reusable basket. That way, if it is pricey, your customer can justify the cost.
Line the basket with green fabric, real grass or green tissue paper. Sometimes, customers just need a suggestion from you, and they will jump at the chance to do something for the environment.
Fill the basket, not with candy, but with little items from your store: books, bath oil, soap, hair ribbons, comic books, crayons, a coloring book with Easter drawings inside.
If a customer seems interested, walk around the store with him or her, and help select items for a green Easter basket.
