How important is the franchisee – franchisor relationship in the success of a franchise?
It is “everything”, and it begins with finding and accepting the right type of people for the system. Although in practice it is far different from a marriage, franchise relationships are still built on the same turf as any other relationship. In order to work, all parties must receive some benefit from the relationship. The franchisor must continue to offer an attractive “package” for the franchisee’s use (meaning that they keep the business in step with consumer needs and preference), and the franchisee must operate according to the franchisor’s direction so that consistency is achieved.
