In this blog entry, I talked about Networking Marketing as a perpetually popular entry point for Home-Based Businesses. What makes this business structure so attractive?
For one thing, the people that recruit for Network Marketing companies are by nature good salespeople and usually do a knock-down job of making the opportunity look attractive.
But the structure of a Network Marketing company itself provides an easy entry into one’s own Home-Based Business. With a Network Marketing company, there is a certain amount of structure already in place that can give the novice business owner something to hang on to while they are feeling their way through business ownership. There is usually training available for every aspect of the business, a fulfillment procedure in place, and a general structure that lends itself to support of the novice.
Contrast this arrangement to just starting your own business from scratch with no one to tell you what to do. Some people aren’t deterred by this and see this as just one of the challenges of starting a business.
Others need this support system, at least at first. Many people who start Network Marketing businesses have worked in ‘regular jobs’ all of their lives. In a ‘regular job’, there is someone to report to, someone to tell you what to do, when to show up for work, when to take a break, etc. Going from this structure to no structure at all can be an overwhelming proposition for some.
The Network Marketing structure helps ease the transition from dependence to independence. Its structure helps to guide the novice business owner, but allows more independent decision making then the person ever had while working for a company. From this perspective, it’s easy to see why so many people enter Network Marketing.
Unfortunately, most people that start in Network Marketing never succeed in it (perhaps that’s a subject for another day). Thoughts or comments?
