It is difficult not to be distracted by holiday activity – I know that I’m spending time addressing and mailing packages and letters, plus planning holiday arrangements and starting some charity work – so I’m definately writing this for my own behalf as much as anyone else’s.
Champion yourself this week on tracking your sales activity and on moving probable opportunities forward toward closure.
Note I didn’t say to close business this week – go ahead, but what I’m talking about is the activity that no one really pats you on the back for – those calls, e-mails, thank you notes, letters and events that can cause a most valuable conversation moving your sales opportunities forward.
Yesterday I was at an event and connected with several potential new clients. Today I am following up with each, when I do letter writing in the early afternoon.
Whether you work on your own, in your small business, or are a sales representative in a business, who champions you to make ten extra phone calls or one extra visit – who congratulates you when you attend a networking function or when you do a very on-target mailing?
Become your best champion – track your activity – on paper, on a white board – somewhere that you can see it every day. In software – that is where I track mine – but I also print out my goals and mark off progress.
Don’t wait for someone else to ask you – agressively set some challenging activity goals for yourself and then see how close you get to reaching them – please take a moment to “comment” after the post and let others know how you are doing – and let us all know how you champion your efforts.
For many of us there are ten or eleven more selling days this year…. make them count!!!
