Most of us have some aspect of our businesses we least enjoy, and we find ways to avoid doing them. For me, anything related to computer issues was something I would put off if at all possible. I knew, for example, that I needed to replace my aging laptop. But having to spend the time to load everything onto a new computer, reset my preferences, and probably learn to deal with a new operating system and new versions of software, well, that seemed like something that could wait. And then last week, my hard drive finally failed. And I have been putting off arranging speaking engagements to help promote the book I’m writing. Probably no need to explain my procrastination there.
Today I’m catching up with my news feeds from other bloggers, and Just Do It from Anthony Cerminaro really hit home!
“Whether we avoid something because it scares us or bores us, or because we think it will force a change we’re not ready for, putting it off only creates obstacles for us. On the other hand, facing the task at hand, no matter how onerous, creates flow in our lives and allows us to grow. The relief is palpable when we stand on the other side knowing that we did something even though it was hard or we didn’t want to do it.”
This is just part of what Anthony quotes from DailyOM, but I couldn’t find the original post there. So go and read it on Anthony’s blog, and then just do whatever you have been putting off!
