The holidays are upon us and decorations adorn houses nationwide. For active listings, adding a little flair by accenting your home with festive lighting is an effective strategy for welcoming and putting prospective buyers at ease. Don’t overdo it, though. Overt religious themes may be off-putting for some. The best policy as in any staging instance is to neutralize your home of deeply personal sentimentalities. While buyers are eager to have a sense of how space may be used, they don’t want to be overwhelmed by rooms filled with curios and momentos. Clutter is an absolute no-no. The goal should be to remove personal items, leaving only those things best showcasing flow and space utilization. Pictures of the family along with flashy fridge magnets should be stowed away. The inflatable Santa in the front yard is likely to be a little too demonstrative of holiday spirit. Keep it simple, tasteful and your home will stand out. –
