Few advertising campaigns are as well done as this one. Sony’s Bravia advertisement is being hyped on blogs like Coolz0r (a favorite of mine), AdRants and on RocketBoom already and it hasn’t even come out yet. In fact, it’s the making of the ad that’s really causing excitement. Of course, as geeks and technology buffs are a major market for the Bravia, they’ve generated the excitement in the right places.
The amatuer footage of the explosion is on YouTube and Flickr already and you really have to see it. It’s amazing. They’ve taken paint bombs strategically placed on each floor and created a rainbow, staggered explosion that really is spectacular. Apparently a clown is to blow up the building in the commercial.
If the commercial is funny too, and they can hook the general public as well, then the hefty price tag for snagging a director like Fallon and pulling off a stunt like this will be more than justified. Certainly can’t be worse than the PSP’s abyssmal advertising flops (graffiti and racism).
