Testimonials from the PR angle, and the latest from Anne Holland of MarketingSherpa.com. There’s a very good article on Social Marketing by Anne Holland in the latest MarketingSherpa.com edition. The article will only be up and free for seven more days, so you’ll need to hit the link soon!
Holland tackles Social Marketing and its importance to facilitating customer conversions. She brings up an excellent question about who really trusts those “happy quotes plastered on your site?”. How does this apply to PR?
Testimonials from customers are also important to your public and press relations. Sure, we all know as Holland remarks that those testimonials are “hand-picked” but even knowing that, they’re still important in your overall PR efforts.
I agree with Holland that both from a marketing and I will go further and say from a PR perspective that in her words, “People trust other people far more than they trust marketing.” The key takeaway from that insight in regard to the PR angle, is that what your company generates about itself as far as messaging congruency and consistency in your PR efforts has a direct impact on how strong your long-term presence is in your market.
Setting up an open, honest, transparent company forum or blog with real educational value and expedient responsiveness can truly move your PR to the next level.
