Ahh, In the
spring, a young man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of… CHEESE! Mmm, cheese.
I was excited to discover a new festival today in my neighboring state

In 1988, a local citizen of
penned an editorial column asking, “Why is this great nation’s cheese museum in
believing, of course, that the “
should hold the honor. Eventually
Wisconsin Senator Chilsen got involved and mailed a poem (bestowing the virtues

Undaunted, Chilsen and the citizens of
and offered to hold another “cheese off” in their state and the first annual
“Great Wisconsin Cheese Festival” was born!

live television (they take their cheese pretty seriously in
Mayor Eilenberg himself blindfolded the TV reporter and wouldn’t you
know it, he picked the
festival differs than others in that they do a ton for the local
community. According to their website,
“All proceeds from the Festival will be donated back to the community in the
form of scholarships, donations to schools and non-profit groups and park
development projects.” That’s pretty
you’ve never been to a cheese parade, or tasted some cheesecake that just might
rival that from
Visit Little Chute and “take it all in!”
