You bet it’s worth it!
Publicity via news releases and building relationships with reporters and editors is really good for your small business. As one who is adamant about “it’s not who you know, it’s who knows you,” news releases play a big part. Plus getting publicity helps establish you as an expert in your specialty. Amazingly, much of the news we read in the newspaper on a daily basis started with a news release.
It’s critical you have publicity activities and news releases as a part of the marketing plan for your small business. Hop on over to the Small Biz Boot Camp and take the PR Primer for Small Business Owners course. (won’t cost you a dime, but you’ll need to register).
I’ve worked hard over the past few years to make publicity a part of my small business marketing plan and it’s paid off — I’ve been on radio shows, television and called on as an expert to provide comments for articles that appear in the magazines my target market reads — Inc, Entrepreneur, Start Up Journal, and many more.
It can happen to you too.
If creating a publicity plan for your small business sounds too overwhelming, check out PR Leads by Dan Janal. He’s raised his prices a bit since he started, but it would still be worth it if you can swing it.
The bottom line is it can be done. But it takes consistent effort and action just like every thing else that will make you successful in your business.
