If your home-based business is in the U.S., here comes a major holiday weekend. In fact, people I know are already starting to get ready for it (and it’s only Tuesday). Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the first official burst of summer activity for a lot of Americans. If your home-based business is an online business with US customers, this could translate into a slow weekend. Or will it?
Traditionally, people go somewhere for this weekend, but with fuel prices at all time highs, perhaps more people will leave their car keys on the table this weekend. This article talks about shortages on available airline flights this summer, so that could mean it may be difficult to go anywhere by air as well.
Usually weekends like Memorial Day mean fewer people will be shopping online. But perhaps these barriers to travel could translate into more people staying closer to home this weekend and on into the summer. This may then mean more online shoppers this summer.
So, what do you think? A bummer summer or a good summer for online sales coming up?
