How do you become an outstanding salesman? Different sources advocate many different strategies. But I’m absolutely certain if you never lose sight of these three factors, you’ll achieve success.
Passion. Find your passion and make it your career. Find that thing that propels you to get out of bed each morning – that thing that motivates you to do your best work. Do not settle for anything less. Passion is synonymous with enthusiasm and energy. And genuine excitement is contagious.
Knowing your customers needs. Always start with the needs and wants of the consumer and move backwards; these needs and wants should be your number one focus! Never forget that you’re selling TO someone – you’re not just selling a product. If you truly know and understand your customer’s needs, the rest is easy.
Having a great hook. What’s your one-line benefit statement? What powerful, concise statement is going to convince customers that they need to buy your product? Consumers have a short attention span; they need to be impacted immediately. The first thing out of your mouth should be strong. At the end of the day, if you took the time to understand their needs, this statement should really hook them.
