I recorded some audio with my friends at Salesopedia a while back, so when I saw that one of the interviews had posted, I nearly forgot what I had said at that time. I replayed the audio, and had to agree with myself as to my three points on why it is great to be in a sales career (if you own your own small business, you are in a sales career, by the way…..)
3 Reasons To Be a Career Sales Pro
1. It is admirable to help buyers connect with the products and services that will help their life and work. Nothing happens till someone sells something – in other words, you have no sustainable business till things are sold on a regular basis.
2. Sales is a FAIR profession – in that anyone is compensated based on what they do sell – especially when one is paid on a commission basis. As a young single mom at age 22 years ago, I received the same revenue when I closed sales as my maile counterparts. Now sometimes there have been inequities with base salaries – but that is another post for another day.
3. It is exciting to work in the field of selling – you meet so many different types of people and have to be ready to adapt to each person’s style and communicate with them as best you can. It is a challenge and there are rewards.
