As a co-founder of the Sales 2.0 Conference just a few years ago, David Thompson has every right to crow about its growing popularity.
An early proponent of leveraging online technologies for sales teams to sell smarter and faster, Thompson is understandably proud – even if it’s Gerhard Gschwandtner and Selling Power now hosting the conferences. This year’s San Francisco event drew a capacity crowd of more than 500 sales executives and the number of sponsors rose to nearly 40, up from 25 or so a year ago.
While there’s still plenty of uncertainty, most companies recognize the need to be engaged in new Web-based strategies. And as Thompson observed, the marketing side is coming aboard.
Thompson is the co-founder and CEO of Genius.com, an innovative leader in providing marketing automation and demand generation software. I met him several years ago in my role as content manager for CanDoGo and subsequently directed a video shoot where he recorded a dozen short tips on Sales 2.0 best practices. I thought him pretty darned sharp then, and catching up with him at the Sales 2.0 conference was a bonus.
In the video below, he talks briefly about the conference. Enjoy! (To comment, scroll down this page.)
