Direct marketing eMail list building etiquette is serious business. The bottom line is that if you’re going to send people newsletters, product announcements, sale announcements or updates of any other kind, you need to have their “opt in” permission. I know this isn’t news to most of you.
The rules and scenarios are getting a bit complicated, however. My email marketing platform company recently sent me a link that explains their email marketing policy and guidelines. I thought they were good. It shows clear rules for a variety of scenarios that you might not think about. It’s also a good reminder about the many ways you can promote your business and build relationships with the kinds of people that are interested in your products or services.
