An autoresponder is automated series of email messages. I recently got on an autoresponder from a well known marketer – I’ll leave his name out. He was on an audio program I had heard recently and I liked the things he said. But I can’t really say much for his autoresponder. Why?
It was full of broken links. In today’s email, he sent me a link to a list of recommended resources and it was a 404 page (page not found). This wasn’t the first time I had found a broken link in his autoresponder messages. I guess you know what that caused me to do. Unsubscribe from his autoresponder!
Autoresponders are terrific business marketing tools, but they need to be reviewed for accuracy and to make sure links are all still working. In the case above, the whole autoresponder message was centered around what was supposed to be found at that link. That rendered the message itself virtually useless.
If you have an autoresponder for your home-based business, it can be tempting to just let it run on auto-pilot and never pay much attention to it once it’s written. But the reality is that as your site or your affiliate sites change, links in your autoresponder may change as a result. Reviewing them all can be a large task for an autoresponder with a lot of messages, but it will be worthwhile. Otherwise, I would guess most subscribers will do what I did!
