Small Business Q&A
My company is doing business with a large corporation, where the vendor I provide goods to is now hiring ex employee’s from the main company and now they are trying to eliminate my business out of the equation. How do I handle this issue?
Your best bet is to go right to the source you have been working with in the company and work out any issues that are causing this disconnect to happen. Open communication is key. Your communication checkpoints with this client — especially in large companies — are vital to your success.
Always remember that people do business with people, not companies. Make sure you take the time to connect on the “people level” and maintain that interaction on a regular basis.
Set up a schedule of “check in” calls and face-to-face meetings. Maintain regular contact via email. When you’re working with a large company, there will always be someone else on the horizon trying to steal that contract away from you. An open communication process will help you keep them at bay.
