As my final installment in the Business EQ series on balancing the personal and the professional on Facebook, I’m going to offer a few websites with tips for those trying to decide how to handle their FB pages.
The Social Media University Global (SMUG) has a slideshow on creating separate “Friends’ Lists” for personal and professional FB friends. The slides also include basic directions on managing your privacy settings.
For a dozen or so opinions on how to merge (or not merge) personal and professional on Facebook, see this FB page. (Interesting stuff!)
For more tips on managing your privacy settings, see this post on Internet Duct Tape. Note: this post was written in 2007 so some of the FB tools may have changed, but it gives you a basic idea of what to look for.
Have fun, remember FB is pretty public, and be clear about what impression you want to convey.
