You may be aware I’ve been away for quite some time. At the beginning of this year I joined forces with a new company, Blogging Systems, which provides blogging services and consulting to the real estate industry, serving as their VP of Marketing. Since January 2nd, my time has been largely devoted to helping get the company off the ground.
The reason the company chose real estate as the vertical upon which it is focused is that real estate blogging is catching on in a big way, though it is not ubiquitous yet by any means. Realtors have found blogs to be useful for the very same reasons you have found it useful as a marketing tool – it gets them more exposure on the internet, positions them as experts in their field, and gives them opportunity to build their brand.
If you are a Realtor and you have considered starting a blog, let me reference this site — RealtyBlogging.com. It is a blog community comprised of experts on the subjects of blogging and real estate, and serves as an ongoing tutorial for blogging how-tos, particularly as it applies to the real estate industry.
You may be a business blogging professional looking for opportunities to market your expertise. I suggest that taking a hint from Blogging Systems might be worthwhile. Real estate is not the only industry where blogging is beginning to gain a foothold, there are many others. Why not consider partnering with a blogger in one of those verticals and niche yourself there for a while. We’ve found its not difficult to penetrate the real estate industry and gain a level of prominence. In fact, Blogging Systems is the sole sponsor of the very popular Inman News blog (Inman is a leading real estate news site.).
I hope to be back blogging here regularly starting…now! There are two areas I’d like to focus on. 1) Reporting on blogging as its being done in a number of specific industries, and 2) the 52 small business blogs idea I started late last year.
