If you sell products on eBay or a drop ship website as your home-based business, do you read your supplier newsletters? If you don’t or haven’t signed up for it, what are you missing? You might be thinking, “newsletter, yuck, that’s what I use to market to my customers”.
If you’re selling products online in a drop ship arrangement, it’s sometimes hard to stay on top of products and everything that’s happening with them. In a drop ship arrangement, they’re stored somewhere else – out of sight, out of mind, right?
Suppliers often relay important product information via their newsletters. This information might include such things as price increases (or price drops), new product announcements, and more important discontinued product announcements. You don’t want to offer discontinued products that are no longer available on your website.
These communications from your supplier are important for alerting you to various other things besides the standard stuff as well. For example, we have a supplier who places fraud alerts in their newsletter — actual shipping addresses they have found to be fraudulent. Needless to say, this information is of tremendous value to us.
So whether your supplier has an email newsletter or an online newsletter, make sure you have access to it and budget some time for reading it. The information in them can save you money and headaches later on!
