I would like to hear from the readers of this blog – we have a pretty
considerable audience from the stats that I’m getting. I’d like to get
some questions to answer in addition to some of the tutorials I’m
working on here…I’ve got a short list I’m going to start with
here…perhaps it’ll spur some questions from some of you. In addition
to questions from you, I’d like to know what tutorials you’d like to
see put up here…will answer or work on just about any tutorial or
question you post.
Question: I run the Payroll. I give out checks to everyone. I realize, I missed 12 hours for an hourly person. He has already
cashed his check. How can I add 12 hours for the proper week and for
the proper taxes taken out? Answer: Go to pay employees, then unscheduled
payroll (in 2007 or 2008), use the same pay period end date, and check
date, Calculate the correct check with the total hours, then subtract
from the federal and state withholding what was on the first check. Do
this to get withholding amounts. Then enter gross of 12 hours at ?
rate, FICA and unemployment taxes will be correct, override fed &
Question: Well I’m desperate because my QuickBooks doesn’t start I open the program and put in my password, then the window
minimizes, then appears one window that says: Microsoft
Visual C++ Runtime Library and below Runtime error C:Program
files/intuit/quickbooks 2007/qbw32.exe abnormal program
Answer: Not a typical QuickBooks error…my suggestion is to uninstall QuickBooks and reinstall the program.
The good news is your data file should be still intact because your QuickBooks
data file is separate from the program itself, similar to a Word
document…when you create a word doc and save it you still have it
even when you get rid of word…the same is true with QuickBooks…you’ve already created a data file…reinstall the program and open your data file, you should be good to go…
Question: I would like to start doing some of my work at home in Quickbooks, how would I work in Quickbooks at home on my laptop and then transfer it to my computer at work the next day?
of VPN, Webex, Gotomypc.com or any of those services…It sounds like
what you may be wanting to do is backup the file, move it
to a flash drive or cd, or perhaps e-mail it to yourself…restore it
at home, do your work and then back it up again and restore on your
work computer the next day.
Now, that being said, you have to MAKE SURE that NO ONE is going to use
the file while you have THE file at home otherwise someone is going to
loose data. One option is to backup the data file, move it to your
flash drive or whatever media you’ll be using and then remove the file
from the work computer or server you’ll be using.
