Is there anyone out there who has not heard of QuickBooks? I seriously doubt it. QuickBooks was first introduced by Intuit back in 1992. Today, more than three million small businesses are registered with this dynamic accounting software.
Why would a company choose QuickBooks over some of the other well-known accounting software packages available on the market today? Quite frankly, Intuit advertises QuickBooks to be very user-friendly, easy to navigate – a product anyone with half a brain could figure out.
As an accountant, I would like to state that although QuickBooks is my accounting software package of choice, I strongly recommend that you seek professional guidance when setting up and getting started with this software. Yes, the software does offer many functions that are easy to use such as writing checks, paying bills, making deposits, etc. However, there are more complicated issues such as fixed assets, owner equity, payroll tax issues and so on in which a non-accountant simply does not have the expertise.
Do you as a business owner have disposable hours to spend on researching accounting procedures? I didn’t think so. For most of us, the last thing we want to do at the end of the day is spend time dealing with accounting manuals.
QuickBooks does offer comprehensive support, classes, forums, etc. which can be very useful and I suggest you take advantage of all the tools available to you. Visit http://quickbooks.intuit.com. You will find many excellent resources on this website.
It is our goal to walk you through all the ins and outs of QuickBooks. We will discuss products, walk through “how-to’s” on different functions within QuickBooks. We will look at questions and comments from our readers and work through problems that may arise.
QuickBooks is very comprehensive and will work for any company. I look forward to talking about what this wonderful software can do for you!
