I’m not impressed with the concept of a micropractice – a solo practice where the physician runs with no staff and relies on personal computers and other technology to handle phone calls, medical records and so on. That said, Public Radio International’s “Marketplace” show broadcast a feature this past Monday. You can read a transcript or listen to the broadcast here.
Note that while the featured physician gave up his “high overhead”, he also only made $20,000 last year, versus $140,000 with the “high overhead” practice. Personally, I’d look for a middle ground.
