In this blog post, I talked about using articles to boost your website’s popularity with the search engines. One rather disturbing trend I’ve noticed lately is the proliferation of software generated articles I see coming across my screen. That leads me to the issue of article content quality.
An example of what looks to be a software generated article can be found here. A second possible explanation of why this article appears so poorly worded is that it could have been written in another language and run through a software translator.
Either way, do you think an article like that will make much of an impression on the reader? Part of the thinking behind software generated articles is that the more articles you can generate and place out on the web, the more inbound links you will get.
While this is true, you need to consider that people will also read the articles. The search engines spiders might not see the problem with the example article, but any human reading it certainly will. It’s likely to make a negative impression on your business if you are linked from an article like this.
I’m a believer in “what’s pleasing for the customers/users/readers will also be good for the search engines”. If you’re writing articles, there is simply no substitute for original, quality, readable content.
