If you have a home based business, you should know that good time management will be perhaps the most important factor in your success (or failure). When you worked at a J O B, you had someone else managing your time for you. Now that you have a home based business, you must manage that time yourself. While it sounds like nearly everyone’s idea of a dream “problem”, it really can be problematic to manage your time at home.
One main reason: too many potential distractions. Distractions around the home can include any number of things like the kids, the dogs, the TV, the spouse, the neighbors, the cell phone, and so on. One way to get control of your productive time is to set up a schedule for your day and stick to it.
Don’t expect to adhere perfectly to a schedule all the time either. Things will invariably come up and you will undoubtedly be distracted by them. Put a timer on them when you do! Yeah get out that stop watch and make sure you don’t waste too much time on something that wasn’t on your schedule. (Most cell phones have a built in timer in case you don’t have one lying around).
So if you find that your day slips by without enough productivity to suit you, try managing your ‘wasted’ time more carefully.
