Project managers do not perform clerical tasks. PM’s making copies, typing transmittals, and doing general office duties is not the “highest and best use” of their time. To restate the above, the project manager should focus on cost, schedule and quality. Someone who is tasked with clerical duties should handle other less project specific duties such as: 1) Copying of submittals 2) Typing correspondence
3) Applying for payment and performance bonds. The administrative staff should handle these. Again, the project management focus means leading the project.
