When you purchase a product or service, and need a human involved (also known as salesperson) would you rather work with someone using his or her art or developed talent; or arranged maneuvers against an enemy?
I know it may just be semantics, but I much prefer to hear about skill and art when it comes to selling.
Do you have tactics that you use on others? Doesn’t sound very consultative, does it? Let’s take closing as an example. Closing is not something you do to someone. Closure, rather than closing, is what naturally happens when a buying/selling conversation is wrapped up.
When I think about my core fundamentals and the word choices I use, it really makes a difference in how others perceive my value. How about you? Post your comments and thoughts on whether you find a distinction between skills and tactics?
