Linked below is a article from my local area news station about a work from scam. Supposedly you can process rebates from your home but the companies mentioned have earned themselves an “F” rating from the Better Business Bureau based on a large number of consumer complaints.
First of all, there is huge difference in mindset between someone who wants to merely do some job from home (work from home) and someone who wants to start an actual home based business. See Job versus Home-Based Business for more information on this subtle but important distinction.
Secondly, if you really want to “work from home” it’s really just another job. And as such, you shouldn’t be required to pay for that privilege. Aside from perhaps a small administrative fee, you shouldn’t have to pay anything. Any company that makes it look like a job but charges $197 for it should be dismissed.
Here’s the bottom line. If something promises you that you can make a lot of money, that’s one thing. But if they promise you that you can make a lot of money with very little work, that’s usually the hallmark of a home business scam.
