If you do a lot of shipping for your home-based business, you will likely need to use a shipping service. Endicia is a shipping service that is USPS integrated. If most of your shipping goes via USPS, Endicia can help your business in a number of ways.
First, Endicia will allow you bulk upload names and addresses from a Comma Separated Value (CSV) file. These files are easy to create if you sell on eBay (via PayPal) or Amazon. Endicia will use the values in your file without your having to copy and paste name/address information. You can simply check a few settings, click and import your customers from the file.
Endicia includes all the package options available via USPS including Media Mail, Parcel Post and Priority Mail. You can print postage on a variety of label options, including standard Avery 5168 labels (4 on a page).
One of the most valuable features of a shipping service is the ability to mask postage charges. This feature encodes the actual postage into a non-human readable bar code. This is useful when you don’t want your buyer to see the actual shipping charge. Perhaps you are adding to the actual shipping charge to cover things like packaging materials and boxes. Some buyers resent this ‘extra padding’ and masking the shipping charge will prevent any of those hard feelings. Note: you must get the ‘Premium’ level of the Endicia service use this feature.
The Endicia pricing levels can be found on their pricing page (link here). If you’re doing a fair amount of shipping, services like Endicia can not only pay for themselves but can save you money by streamlining your shipping.
