Every day I get emails telling me to validate my bank account or urging me to check for fraud on my credit card. I’m sure you get them too. Those are phishing expeditions. Scammers are looking for ways to get your information so they can take you (and your hard earned cash) for a ride. Your best defense is an offense.
From mid-July 2004 through the end of December 2004, Symantec saw phishing attempts increase more than three times. And according to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, from October to November 2004, there was a 29 percent increase in phishing attacks. Phishing is continuing to be a personal and business problem.
