Sudbury, Ontario is getting its first Green Laundromat. I realize that most of you have never heard of Sudbury, but it’s stories like this, that remind us of just how far green is ingrained into society. George Van Embden spent 16 years as a groundskeeper at Laurentian University and now he’s opening Green Star Laundry.
By using energy efficient washers and dryers, and a tankless water system, his machines will hold twice as much laundry, save 15 gallons of water per load, and use 23% less electricity. The real attraction to Green Star however, will probably be the 40-inch, high-def TV, which of course uses 40% less energy, but also ensures no one misses the hockey game.
