One of our newer All Business bloggers, Carol Carter of the Retail Strategies blog wrote recently about PEEPs, those sticky-sweet marshmallow blobs of a candy that have been around since the beginning of time, if not longer.
I read Carol’s post about PEEPs and it prompted me to offer this thought about sales inspiration: you can get it wherever you can find it. I found some in the Seattle Times’ PEEP sculpture contest that was held and many of the contestants photos are listed here. Since I’m not a huge PEEPs fan (although I love the name and and know they have a cult-like following, I was surprised that I’d be so enamored viewing many of the entries – sort of like a car crash, you can’t stop looking at them. As I viewed, I immediately thought of how creative some of the creators were, and wondered, if the same amount of time went into a sales dilemma that one had, could there be a creative and elegant solution?
Of course there can be, and there is – simply re-visit a challenging situation that you are having with a new set of eyes – a creative set of eyes. Think of the buyer and how they are buying – not how you are selling. Think about what is important to them, what they value, and whether you have had the opportunity to help make it easy for them to make a decision, or did you just bombard them with information? We all need help disseminating information, and this is why many opportunities get stalled.
So think PEEPs – think creativity, and revisit a possibly dead or stalled opportunity again. Post here what happens.
