For anyone who doesn’t know, Whole Foods is banning plastic bags in all its stores by Earth Day this year. Sounds like a very good, earth friendly move, right?
Apparently not. A thought-provoking editorial from The New York Post the other day, in which Jeff Stier, an associate director of the American Council on Science and Health, complains that the banning of plastic bags is jumping the gun. He says that if plastic bags are gone, cockroaches will flourish. Cockroaches love to live in the creases of paper bags, so more paper bags, more cockroaches. More cockroaches apparently equals more asthma problems, and that’s where his concern lies.
Makes things confusing for businesses doesn’t it?
