Retailers take note. Pantone’s Transporting Turquoise is the color of the year for 2010. The vacation-inspired, escapism color reminds people of tropical beaches, and offers a respite and rebirth from a tough 2009.
As an entrepreneurial retailer, why does this matter?
Expect to see the color used by manufacturers and retailers in everything from apparel to home goods and everything in between. You can show you’re “in the know” but including the color in a variety of ways:
Feature area displays. The color is especially great for winter cruise, spring and summer displays, where its freshness and lightness evoke “fun in the sun.” Use it in visual merchandising, in props and backdrops.
Marketing. Use this color as background or typefaces in your marketing materials, from emails to direct mail to in-store and window signage.
Merchandise. Highlight the color in merchandise you bring in. Whether it’s apparel, throw pillows or pill boxes, you can’t go wrong when you showcase this fresh color in merchandise.
Using hot colors not only puts you on trend, but you’ll be able to capitalize on consumer demand as the big boy retailers will no doubt be featuring the color in 2010.
