Oh, that dreaded plastics drawer. Really, it´s not so bad is it? It was way easier than the spice cabinet and definitely easier than what we are going to tackle this week. Anyway, I tossed out some interesting lids that had no bases, some cracked plastic containers, some stained containers, and a few extras: a small container with no lid, a few coupons that had slipped from the junk drawer, and a cottage cheese tub that I´ve probably kept in the plastics drawer for a year and not used.
Today I am going to the store to purchase a few new sets of plastics in which to store leftovers. Andrea from Pasadena said that she writes "plastics´ on her calendar at the beginning of each month. She then picks them up with her regular grocery shopping and gets rid of any containers that are stained or mismatched, so her plastics drawer never gets overrun. I thought that this was a great idea! I´m going to follow her lead and do the same.
This week we are going to work on our refrigerators. We´re going to toss out old condiments, wipe down all shelves, throw out all old food, and do the great clean up job that we should have done last week, or the week before. We’re going to put two condiments of the same together if we have more than one item in the fridge. Toss out those Chinese sauce packets, those taco bell hot sauces, and those little hot pepper packs from the pizza shop. Get rid of the little jellies that you took from the restaurant three months ago. If you haven’t touched it in a month, throw it away!
Each time I clean the refrigerator I tell myself I´m going to start doing this weekly; washing down all shelves and condiment bottles, so that it never gets dirty. With a newborn and a toddler, it just hasn´t happened in a while. So my refrigerator will love to sparkle again, I´m sure.
If you have any great tips about keeping the fridge clean (or clean smelling) let me know and I will post next week when I wrote about my refrigerator adventures.
Happy Back to Work Day, Moms. Oh, did you know it is work in your bathrobe day? Anyone feeling adventurous enough to wear one to the office?!
