Marc Cendella, visionary and founder of The Ladders (an awesome website for six-figure job seekers, by the way) said it well in his most recent post:
Everybody knows summer
isn’t job-hunting season – I mean, everybody is out on vacation, right?
Well, let me tell you something, Readers, the dog days of summer are exactly
when the smart and the quick get the jump on the lazy and the tame.
The next 5 weeks are the perfect time to take advantage of the slow summer
months and get your resume, your pitch, your interview, and your job hunt plans
The same is true for those building businesses and growing sales. We think that everyone is gone on vacation, when in fact SOME people are gone this week, some are gone next week, and others are gone mid August. Don’t write off weeks at a time because you think everyone is gone.
If you do feel strongly about this, then take this time to better position your value proposition, or reconnect with alliance partners.
Create a five week “sales building” plan for your organization – make every week count, and focus on a different area each week. Building on this idea, your next five weeks could look like this:
1. Clean up database / CRM
2. Investigate new Sales 2.o tools – get trials
3. Create PR plan /marketing plan / sales plan (whichever you need most)
5. Postcard to existing alliance partners
Substitute what would be most important to you – and drop me a note as to what you are doing – I will help hold you accountable via this blog!
