“Quit thinking of selling as a clash of wills. To sell more, and reap larger gains, heed this wisdom from an unlikely source — the code of ubuntu
Ubuntu is one of my favorite words. It’s fun to pronounce and, believe it or not, it speaks of a concept with immense relevance to the art of selling. In case you’re not a ‘word weenie,’ as my husband calls me, ubuntu is a Zulu word which means ‘I am what I am because of you.’ That’s quite a concept — the idea that everything we are and achieve is derived from and defined by our relationships with others. Now, let me explain how that unfamiliar expression out of Africa can boost your sales figures. ”
– I like this article! Ubuntu basically means it’s not what you know but who you know and what you know. Leveraging the who and the what will help you succeed. I never quite agreed with the old saying ‘It’s not what you know it’s who you know.’ It never seem to quite fit well, it seems very self-centered. Ubuntu seems to be the right way. The Small Business Blog(TM) is a great example of this. We know about small business, running a small business and succeeding in small business but we also make sure our ‘Blog Resources’ are kept up to date, with people who know more then we do, and leverage it all to become even more relevant to you, the reader. It’s not just the what that we know but the what that all of our other Blog colleagues (the who) know as well. -ed.
