Blinkx could give News Corp a distinct advantage in offering media search with it’s powerful TV, news and desktop search functionality.
Another recent search engine purchase was Barry Diller’s InterActiveCorp acquisition of Ask Jeeves this month.
And if we go back a little further, the New York Times purchased About.com earlier this year. There’s certainly appears to be a trend in publishers leveraging search to gain market share.
What this means for online advertisers and search marketers is new inventory for paid search and exposure opportunities.
