“The Department of Labor has significantly altered its original proposal to revise the federal overtime pay rules for white collar workers. The department?s final rules include revisions to its proposed duties tests and an increase in the salary threshold under which workers would qualify for overtime pay.
“Under these final rules, workers will clearly know their rights, and employers will know their responsibilities,” announced Labor Secretary Elaine L. Chao at an April 20, 2004, press briefing.”
– This is complicated and confusing sounding to me. It is also unclear if the rules are in effect. It sounds like Congress has to look at them first. If you haven’t heard about the new overtime regulations now is the time to learn about them, especially if you have employees. -ed.
