Office Depot has developed a new store prototype as they move forward with their plans for expansion. Among other environmental components, all new Office Depots will have solar panels, white reflective roofs, solar tracking skylights,T5 lighting, and light sensors throughout the offices. Each new building will also have a recycling program for printer cartridges, paper and cardboard.
This pre-emptive planning for a greener corporate future has led them to be the first company to have volume pre-certification for a master set of drawings.
“What this means is that not just one store, but our core store prototype incorporates leading edge green design principles,” said Yalmaz Siddiqui, Office Depot’s Director of Environmental Strategy
We’ll all be able to visit the first of their new stores in Austin this summer.
