Well I finally broke down and got a new color inkjet printer. I thought it was about time I started putting together some mailings for our customers in something other than just black & white. As I posted yesterday, summer is coming up and I’ll bet our customers need to be reminded to shop at our sites again!
This is the printer we got – an Epson CX4800
It prints, copies, and also scans. Ink Jet Printers are well.. just printers and nowadays nearly everything copies, but I was really surprised by the scan quality. It’s at least as good as the HP ScanJet we have – or I should say ‘had’. The Epson scanning quality is good enough, that it allowed me to get rid of the HP Scanner altogether (it was taking up way too much desktop space anyway).
By the way, we did not get rid of the laser printer. Ink cartridges are still a cost to be considered and did you know ink jet ink runs when wet? Sometimes a problem for envelope, label, and post card addressing, but for the occasional use of color, this looks like a great home-office assistant for less than $150. Here is Epson’s Product Page for the CX4800.
What about you? Do you have experience with this printer or another favorite low cost printer to recommend?
