You’ve probably heard the term Net Neutrality bounced around lately, but what is it and what does it mean? It’s a set of legislative measures that could negatively affect all online small business entrepreneurs which includes many home-based business. I have to admit, I’m still trying to fully understand it, so in place of me being able to explain it adequately, here is eBay’s version:
“…lawmakers in Washington are debating whether consumers should be free to use the Internet as they want in the future. The phone and cable companies are using their political muscle to promote legislation that would divide the Internet into a two-tiered system — a “Pay to Play” tier for large companies that can afford the fees and a slow lane for everyone else.”
If you want to write your representatives in congress and make your voice heard about preserving Net Neutrality, eBay has made this process very easy. Here is a link to eBay’s government relations page where you can put in your information. eBay will then send notices to your representatives in Congress (based on the zip code you have your eBay account).
What about you? Do you have commments on Net Neutrality you would like to share?
(Thanks Sterling and Jay for the heads up on this link)
