All Business blog colleague Kevin Stirtz wrote today about the all-time low we are at to get a reply phone call or e-mail (30 Days to More Customers). It is as if it’s become standard to not reply to e-mail or that people simply pick-and-choose what to reply to.
I have have never witnessed a time where people are less responsive to others.
I’m continually surprised at how unwilling some people are to return a phone
call or reply to an email in a timely manner.
Unwilling, Kevin? Maybe they are forgetful, overburdened, or disorganized. Kevin’s suggestion?
A 30 day effort – for each of us – to follow up with people on a specific, timely basis – you set the time – within a business day or an hour – but simply follow up on every legitimate inquiry and email you receive.
I think that would be phenomenal. Amazing…. because sometimes e-mails really DO go into the ozone – the ether……. and other times people receive our emails but they just don’t reply.
Do they mean to?
Do they not want to?
Are they thinking?
Did they just not see it?
Are they totally overwhelmed with other emails to respond to?
Whatever it is, I am with Kevin that it would be a better business world if we all DID reply to all emails and voice mails within a very timely period. I’ve been guilty of dropping a couple myself – so I am recommitting to this as well. Over the course of September I will see how it goes – and will report to all (and Kevin……. great idea, by the way….) Let’s see how this works. Are you committed to?
Now, if only my clients, prospects, vendors, and alliance partners were all on board!
