Implementing emotional intelligence programs in the schools is not a minor endeavor: It entails creating a school-wide climate of emotional/social intelligence, as well as training teachers, staff, and parents, so that all adults in the community are on same page. I highlighted the work of Emotionally Intelligent Schools, LLC in my last blog post. Today I’d like to point you in the direction of sixseconds, a global consulting firm that works with both businesses and schools to promote more emotionally and socially intelligent relationships and behaviors. Sixseconds offers training and an EQ curricula for schools (that addresses classroom management, working with different learning styles, and creating an emotionally intelligent school), but it also offers a free, eight-hour workshop curriculum to be taught to families. The license stipulates that this workshop be provided free of charge, which I like, as it speaks to a heartfelt mission for the organiation — not just a profit motive.
