In general, I’d feel bad about writing “Too bad for you, you missed it” about a terrific event. That kind of message might make readers feel bad. But I’m writing it now, because you must remember (and I’ll help you via this blog) to register and join me next year! I’ve just come from the BWN (Business Women’s Network) annual conference in DC. The atmosphere was electric with productive networking for business women. I am SOOO glad I was there. You must join me this time next year!
I was lucky to be able to present an Entrepreneurial Star award to Stephanie Scholz Neurohr, CEO of Mother of 7, a company that creates beautiful instructional videos on childbirth and breastfeeding. Stephanie is indeed a mother of seven, with kids ranging in age from six to twenty. She is also a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, and an incredibly inspiring person. Her story is touching – as Stephanie gave birth to her youngest child (on film, mind you – she was filming and starring in a childbirth video at the time) she realized that the baby, Autumn, had serious health problems and required immediate life-saving intensive care. Happy to say Autumn is a healthy six-year-old now, but the years have been challenging, and Stephanie’s tremendous spirit and vision have carried her through and helped her succeed as a mom and a businessperson.
And this event was full of stories like Stephanie’s – stories of triumph and beating the odds. Apart from our own Camp WorldWIT conference in May (and naturally, I’m biased) I can’t think of a more productive and high-energy women’s business event that I’ve attended this year.
If you want to get a reminder from me well in advance of the BWN conference next year, write to me! I’m at firstname.lastname@example.org.
